THINGS TO CONSIDER? 🤔
I get it, you look at IKEA and they have endless designs and styles to choose from. But if you have not ordered the IKEA FURNITURE yet. Here are a few things to think about beforehand.
When shopping online at this major manufacturer they have an infinite database of products on hand. Let's talk thru some of the different pieces of furniture they have.
The other main thing to take into consideration before buying the IKEA FURNITURE is. If your budget allows. I always recommend you find a piece of furniture that is mostly if not all made out of real wood. Nowadays, the majority of furniture products are made of MDF/Particle Board materials. Which are NOT real wood. Some products include a few pieces of real wood. Always, always go for the products that contain real wood. They will last longer.
And the biggest issues with MDF and Particle Board are they act like a sponge. So any moisture and excess water that comes in contact with it expands and deforms. Because the materials are very porous and airy, not dense like real natural wood.
BED FRAMES
The bed frames IKEA sells can range from simple metal frames that just get a few bolts and call it a day. To bunk beds for kids, sleeper sofa couches, daybeds, beds with drawer storage, adjustable beds, and more.
My advice when looking at the online pictures of the slats. The slats are usually the wood boards going horizontal across the bed in which the mattress sits. Find a bed frame that has a lot of these wood slats and not less.
The idea is that more slats mean it's more sturdy and secure and should be able to handle a lot of weight and abuse over the years.
When you get a bed frame with storage drawers below just plan out how you will utilize this storage efficiently.

TABLES AND DESKS
Tables such as coffee tables can be as simple as a top and four legs. To a very large and heavy table where the top opens up like a car hood with hinge absorbers. So you have storage space inside the table.
When getting dining table sets. This can be the opportunity to find REAL WOOD products. Since they have more options for this. And if your a person who likes to entertain other people and have parties etc.
They make dining tables that extend and slide out to make the table bigger.
For computer and office desks, they can be as simple as a top with four legs. To a desk with lots of drawers and doors and a large top HUTCH attached to it.

BOOKSHELFS

MY IKEA FURNITURE CAME DAMAGED OR IS MISSING PARTS?
First, relax and breathe…This happens a lot more than you think. Remember your piece of furniture has gone through so many different phases in its life cycle.
The product starts as raw materials, then gets manufactured somewhere, then gets packaged and stored at some warehouse/location. Then eventually you order it online or at the store. Finally, it gets put on a delivery vehicle and dropped at your doorstep.
A lot of moving parts are involved with this entire process. Sometimes quality control has bad days, and people make mistakes. I've seen where the product and box are damaged. This could've been during shipping. I've seen where hardware or parts are missing, which means it failed a QC test. Even worse is I've run across MDF that's damaged and they either touch up painted or edge banded onto a damaged piece and still shipped it.
At the end of the day though, if you ordered the FURNITURE online. Most of the time as long as you reach back out to the company quickly. They will send you the replacement or damaged product or pieces for free. And I will always 100% let you know if something is damaged or missing before I start building.
And if your furniture did end up having a damaged or missing part. Plan for at least a couple of weeks or longer for the manufacturer to fulfill the replacement order. Especially nowadays after the pandemic, everything will take longer than usual. Having realistic expectations will go a long way.
