THINGS TO CONSIDER? 🤔
I get it, you look on Wayfair, Ikea, Amazon, and every other online manufacturer you can think of. If you have not ordered the BED FRAME yet. Here are a few things to think about beforehand.
When shopping online at these major manufacturers they have an endless database of products to choose from.
Bed Frames generally are made of either metal or wood. The metal bed frames are usually simpler in design and basic by nature. To put these frames together a lot of times it's just nuts/bolts and machined screws. For the other style bed frame like the wood type. This usually requires a lot more effort to put together.
Some bed frames just have a headboard and footboard and some horizontal wood slats that secure between the side frames and that's it.
While other style bed frames have drawers on both sides underneath. Other bed frames have the bottom portion of the frame slide out revealing a second twin mattress for a second person.
Some even fancier bed frames have the middle portion adjustable up or down. There's actually one more style of bed frame I would consider like the Mercedes of bed frames. And that's the motorized recliner-style bed frame. where the whole base is made of sturdy metal and a built-in motor is on the underside. And all you do is just use a remote and click a button and the bed frame moves up or down. Basically like a hospital bed style.
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS?
The other main thing to take into consideration before buying the bed frame is. If your budget allows. I always recommend you find a piece of furniture that is mostly if not all made out of real wood. Nowadays, the majority of furniture products are made of MDF/Particle Board materials. Which are NOT real wood. Some products include a few pieces of real wood. Always, always go for the products that contain real wood. They will last longer.
And the biggest issues with MDF/Particle Board are they act like a sponge. So any moisture and excess water that comes in contact with it expands and deforms. Because the materials are very porous and airy, not dense like real natural wood.
Remember your bed frame is an essential foundation for the mattress you sleep on every single night. This is one of those furniture pieces I'd recommend you spend a little more and invest in a piece of furniture that will last longer and is more durable. For obvious reasons, your bed frame needs to handle the weight of several people at any given time. And when you move to a new location it needs to withstand the move itself.
MY BED FRAME CAME DAMAGED OR HAS MISSING PARTS?
First, relax and breathe…This happens a lot more than you think. Remember your piece of furniture has gone through so many different phases in its life cycle.
The product starts off as raw materials, then gets manufactured somewhere, then gets packaged and stored at some warehouse/location. Then eventually you order it online or at the store. Finally, it gets put on a delivery vehicle and dropped at your doorstep.
A lot of moving parts are involved with this entire process. Sometimes quality control has bad days, and people make mistakes. I've seen where the product and box are damaged. This could've been during shipping. I've seen where hardware or parts are missing, which means it failed a QC test. Even worse is I've run across MDF that's damaged and they either touch up painted or edge banded onto a damaged piece and still shipped it.
At the end of the day though, if you ordered the bed frame online from a major company. Most of the time as long as you reach back out to the company quickly. They will send you the replacement or damaged product or pieces for free. And I will always 100% let you know if something is damaged or missing before I start building the bed frame.
And if your furniture did end up having a damaged or missing part. Plan for at least a couple of weeks or longer for the manufacturer to fulfill the replacement order. Especially nowadays after the pandemic, everything will take longer than usual. Having realistic expectations will go a long way.
