PREPLANNING CONSIDERATIONS?
The very first thing I tell anyone who is planning on buying a treadmill online and having it delivered is the drop-off location. When the delivery crew finally arrives in your home ready to drop the huge box that the treadmill is in. Make sure you have them unload the treadmill in the final location it will be stationed at. DO NOT have the delivery crew unload in some other location in your house before I get there.
This happened at a previous job and the clients had the delivery people drop it at the garage but its final destination was planned for their downstairs basement.
They had to move the really heavy box down a narrow flight of stairs, which was really sketchy. They could have completely avoided this situation had they just told the delivery people to drop it downstairs instead. Don't make the same mistake.
If you do not have the typical foam pad flooring you find at the gym and you do have a hardwood floor surface. My recommendation is to get a huge yoga mat and let the treadmill sit on top of it to protect your nice hardwood flooring below.
The next consideration is to think about how much space around the treadmill you should have. Ideally, you should have a 2 to 3 foot radius of clearance around the entire treadmill for safety.
Again a modern day treadmill with a screen display is a very heavy piece of exercise equipment. You should not be handling or moving a treadmill by yourself. Find a buddy to lend you a hand when moving the treadmill around. Yes a lot of these treadmills DO have wheels at the base of the unit and can be moved alone. But take caution when handling by yourself.
It will not require two people to assemble the treadmill. I assembled all of them solo.
MY TREADMILL CAME DAMAGED OR HAS MISSING PARTS?
First, relax and breathe…This happens a lot more than you think. Remember your product has gone through so many different phases in its life cycle.
The product starts off as raw materials, then gets manufactured somewhere, then gets packaged and stored at some warehouse/location. Then eventually you order it online or at the store. Finally, it gets put on a delivery vehicle and dropped at your doorstep.
A lot of moving parts are involved with this entire process. Sometimes quality control has bad days, and people make mistakes. I've seen where the product and box are damaged. This could've been during shipping. I've seen where hardware or parts are missing, which means it failed a QC test.
At the end of the day though, if you ordered the TREADMILL online from a major company. Most of the time as long as you reach back out to the company quickly. They will send you the replacement or damaged product or pieces for free. And I will always 100% let you know if something is damaged or missing before I start building.
And if your product did end up having a damaged or missing part. Plan for at least a couple of weeks or longer for the manufacturer to fulfill the replacement order. Especially nowadays after the pandemic, everything will take longer than usual. Having realistic expectations will go a long way.
